Gilles Robin

Louis PASQUION , Gilles ROBIN's great-grandfather, bought the first plots, comprising 1.27 ha, in 1920. His desire is to produce a wine for his personal consumption. A wine lover, he was hardly mistaken in the choice of the terroir for this first plot because the quality of the grapes from this vineyard is, in good and great years, worthy of the fine Hermitage. In 1926, Albéric BOUVET , Gilles' grandfather, decided to take over this plot. He regularly received merchants who wished to acquire part of his production to constitute their great vintages. He prefers to slowly develop the estate by working on the complexity of the Syrah. Thus, he notably initiated the vinification of his best grapes in demi-muids. Michel ROBIN, Gilles's father, born in this environment of wine enthusiast, brought to the estate an obvious dynamism. In 1965, he acquired 2-3 hectares and began an enormous work in the vineyard, replanting and developing the estate through the search for new terroir. Born in 1972, Gilles has always followed the work in the vineyards with his father. The vine has always been his passion, Syrah is his predilection. After his oenology studies in Montpellier, he went to wine for 3 years for a Domaine in Haute-Savoie where he advised wineries to gain additional experiences to that of the estate. With a history dedicated, for three generations, to the love of Syrah and the art of blending terroirs, it was in 1996, at only 24 years old, that Michel passed the torch to Gilles.
